1.       Define Babalwa  Louw to Us?

Igama lam ngu Babalwa Louw ,ndiyinzalelwane yase Bhayioweto –on-Sea eBhayi neyakhulela eAlexandria.

My name is Babalwa Louw, the name Babalwa means blessing. I was born in PE and grew up in Alexandria as well.

2.       Who inspired you to love radio and why?

Baninzi abantu abantu endikhule ndithanda ukubamamela nabaquka ongasekhoyo Tat’Makhosandile Ndzishe ,nguye owandikhuthaza ukuba ndibenothando luka nomathotholo,indlela awayethetha ngayo nabaphulaphuli bakhe nangendlela ewayetsala ngayo umdla xa esasaza yandenza ndathanda iRadio.

There are a lot of broadcasters that I grew up listening to, including the late Umhlobo Wenene fm broadcaster uTat’ Makhosandile Ndzishe.  He had a unique way in broadcasting and his interaction with listeners was out of this world. 

 

3.       What does radio mean to you and what drives you to do what you do?

Kum i-radio ndingathi ibaluleke kakhulu nanje ngokuba akukwazi kuhlala ngaphandle kwayo, umzekelo iyakhawuleza ukuzisa ulwazi esiludingayo kwaye lelona qonga lonxibelelwano oluhamba phambili.  Nanjengokuba izisa ulwazi ikwakufundisa uluntu ngezinto olungazaziyo I-radio iliqonga elikwazi ukufikelela kunzinzi, nantoleyo indenza ndiwuthande umsebenzi wam. 

(Radio is very important because it is one of the immediate forms of communication in traditional media.  To be of service to people (Educate and inform) is what drives my passion for radio, because this medium reaches a much broader audience.) 

4.       If you were not in radio what would you be doing? 

Ngendingumfundisi ntsapho okanye ngendisebenza eBankeni

(I would be a teacher or in the banking sector)

5.What would you like people to remember about you?

Ndingathanda ukukhunjulwa njengomntu othanda abantu, umsebenzi wakhe kwanomntu odlale indima ebonakalayo kwezosasazo ngelinika ithemba kubantu abatsha abanomdla kusasazo..

 

I would like to be remembered as someone who loves her family and people at large, who is passionate about her work.  I hope I am also remembered as someone who leaves a mark in broadcasting thus giving hope to young people who want to pursue a career in broadcasting.

-I grew up in Soweto –on –Sea and later moved to Oxton Farm in Alexandria

-My wish was to be an Engineer

-I have an intense fear of heights otherwise known as Acrophobia..

Love for people and  sharing necessary information with the masses.

 

11. Umhlobo Wenene FM turns 60 years this year, what does being part of this massive and successful brand mean to you?

 

Ndizibona nam ndiyinxalenye yempumelelo  yesikhululo esinemabali enkulu nentle kweli lizwe nakwihlabathi. Isikhululo esinkqenkqeza phambili oku kundenza ndizingombe isifuba kuba nam ndibalwe phakathi kwabantu abenze esi sikhukulo sayimpumelelo(Halalalala UWFM Halalala)
