SABC mourns the passing of Umhlobo Wenene FM On-Air personality Bulelani Koyo
The news of the untimely passing of Bulelani Koyo, fondly known on Umhlobo Wenene FM as "BK The Maestro" has brought grief and profound sadness at the station. BK succumbed to a terminal illness on the morning of 4 July 2022 at age 39.
BK The Maestro is not only a renowned gospel artist and chorister, he was also appointed by the SABC in 2008 as an independent contractor responsible for presenting iiKwayara eziphambili on Sundays, taking over the baton from the legendary Mr Thozamile Nyakatyha. He was later assigned to present funeral notices and book reading slots.
The death of "The Maestro" is a massive blow to Umhlobo Wenene FM and friends of the station as just a day prior to his death, his fans had just contributed to a benefit concert in his honour, after he publicly shared with listeners on the station's drive time show on the 15th June 2022 about his terminal illness. His untimely passing has robbed the entire organization of his well-rounded talent, passion and dedication towards his craft.
