Exciting times...

Exciting times for uMhlobo Wenene FM

Radio is an immediate medium of communication. Known for its authenticity, each radio station strives to grow its audiences and to remain relevant and a trusted source of edutainment.

According to Valerie Geller who has written a book called, “Creating Powerful Radio,” she says “radio is based in three principles: telling the truth, making radio better and never be boring.”

The above principles resonate well with the station’s objectives. After 5 years the station is proud to announce the following line-up changes and programme reshuffle. Two new faces will be joining the station as from the 1st of July 2017.

Nobulali Tokwe a young lady from Zwelitsha, in King Williams Town. A purpose drive individual, a pioneer, an ordained minister of the word of God, an organiser, a leader and a visionary. Lali as she is better known is University of Fort Hare graduate, she obtained the following qualifications: Bachelor of Science (Geography and GIS), Post Graduate Diploma in Records & Archives Management and Bachelor of Science Hons in Geography & Environmental Science and is currently pursing Masters of Science in Geography & Environmental Science. Lali joins the station as a presenter for Seza Umphefumlo, a gospel music show that is on air every Sunday from 09h00 – 11h00.

Siphiwo Nzawumbi better known as “Spitch” was born in Umtata into a family of four. He was 8 years old when he lost his parents, his loving and hardworking maternal grandparents then raised him, surrounded by uncles and aunts who he relates to as his siblings. Raised with principles of faith, respect, hard work, love, it is no wonder that? Siphiwo is well grounded. A qualified Broadcast Journalist, having obtained his BTech in Journalism at Walter Sisulu University and he has worked across different fields in media from Print to Broadcasting. Siphiwo now joins uMhlobo Wenene FM to co-host Sijik’ilanga with Luckeez Matyolweni who has been with the station for 12 years, this show will now be based in Cape Town, which is uMhlobo Wenene FM’s second biggest home.

Other Changes:

Consistent audience decline in the Afternoon drive has necessitated changes in the show as from the 1st of July 2017, Amaza Ntshanga, Zizo Tshwete and Reggie Solani will take over the show. KCI August has been moved to Jaiva Mzantsi which is a weekend show that is on air on Friday and Saturday from 22h00 – 24h00.

New Show:

The station will be hosting a new show called Siyabakhumbula, it’s a music show designed to celebrate music from fallen heroes and also celebrates artists who had hit albums but are no longer releasing new music. The show will be hosted by Gwiba Nkonki from 13h00 – 14h00 every Saturday, Gwiba will also host the Reggae show from 14h00 – 15h00.
