UMHLOBO WENENE FM’s NOMONDE VAKALISA TAKES TO TV WITH NEW SHOW
Gqeberha -Friday, 31 March 2023 - SABC 2 in partnership with Umhlobo Wenene FM unveils a brand-new TV show entitled "’Ichibi Lendumiso'", presented by Umhlobo Wenene FM's Pastor Nomonde Vakalisa. The show, largely shot in the Eastern Cape and primarily broadcast in isiXhosa will air on SABC 2 starting Sunday, 2 April 2023 at 09:00.
The show explores religious practices within the Christian denominations of Roman Catholics, Anglicans, Methodists, Evangelical Lutherans, Presbyterians and their congregants. Viewers will explore each denomination’s perspectives, practices and gain a greater understanding of the inner workings of each of these autonomous branches of the Christian faith.
Ichibi Lendumiso marks the TV broadcast debut of Vakalisa’s career. Since 2008 she’s been a familiar voice on Umhlobo Wenene, having started with presenting the local Top 30 charts, the breakfast show and in 2012, transitioning into religious shows. Ichibi Lendumiso is not only an extension of her duties on Umhlobo Wenene FM as a religious show presenter for Ngenani Emasangweni Ngendumiso which airs every Thursday from 09:00 – 12:00 and Imvuselelo on Sundays 19:00 – 22:00, it will also be a content feeder for her radio shows. This convergence of radio and TV content enables the SABC to better reflect, represent and serve a wider audience in all parts of the country.

Eastern Cape Combo Business Manager, Mr Loyiso Bala is also excited about the transversal opportunity to marketing SABC talent. Bala says “the partnership is a great win for Umhlobo Wenene FM as it allows our radio content to be accessible to audiences that might not have the opportunity to listen to radio during the day. They can now tune into the same presenter on an additional SABC platform” he added. “Umhlobo Wenene FM views this integrated approach to media consumption as a step in the right direction for the station”.
