TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- The promoters of this competition are GlaxoSmithKline (Pty) Ltd and Grand-Pa (Pty) Ltd, in partnership with the South African Broadcasting Commission (“SABC”) station Ukhozi FM,, together referred to as (“the Promoters”).
- The Grand-Pa Radio Competition (“the Competition”) is open to all South African residents except directors, members, partners, employees, agents, service providers and consultants of the SABC, as well as any SABC employees, including agencies, UIP and/or their spouses, life partners, parents, children, brothers, sisters, business partners or associates.
- The Competition will commence at 09h00 on 23 September 2019 and will end at 12h00, on 27 September 2019 (the “Competition Period”).
4 The Competition will be held at the participating SABC radio stations stated in 2 above. In order to achieve a valid entry to the competition the radio station listeners (“Entrants”) must follow the process below:
4.1 Entrants will be invited to nominate their Kasi Starring and motivate why the chosen person is their Kasi Starring. The nominations and motivation should be sent via a WhatsApp voice note.
5 Eligible Entrants stand a chance of winning their Kasi Starring R5000 (five thousand Rands) in cash.
6 The detail of this mechanic is as follows:
6.1 Each station will be allocated a unique WhatsApp number.
6.2 Entrants must SMS their name and the keyword #Grand-Pa to the station number. A return SMS will direct entrants to follow the WhatsApp number to complete their entry.
6.3 15 (fifteen) Winners will be announced from the 23rd September 2019 until the 27th September 2019
6.4 During the Period stated in 6.3 above, each radio station will announce1 (one) winner per day and in total 3 (three) winners will be announced across all radio stations per day for 5 (five) days.
7 In order to be eligible for participation in the Competition the Entrants must meet the following requirements:
7.1 must be 18 (eighteen) years or older;
7.2 must have an active WhatsApp account; and
7.3 must undertake to abide by these Terms and Conditions.
8 Selection of winners
8.1 Entrants will be randomly picked by the station and then phoned. The winner will chat live on air with the DJ about how they feel and about what Heritage Day means to them.
8.2 The winner will have the money transferred into their account as specified by the bank details that they share as well as the proof of identity that is handed over. Payment will be made within 14 (fourteen) business days to the winner from the date of the announcement. For the avoidance of doubt, a Business Day is a day other than a Saturday, Sunday or a day gazetted as a Public Holiday in the Republic of South Africa by the Minister.
9 A premium rate of R1.50 (one Rands fifty cents) is charged for each SMS entry. Free SMS’s do not apply
10 Promoters accept no responsibility for messages that are lost or delayed or which are unable to be sent due to lack of network coverage, or for any other reason beyond the Promoter’s control. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or providers or any other technical problems.
11 Only entries which comply with the requirements of Clause 4.1 and received by the advertised deadlines will be considered for the draw. Any late entries received will not be taken into consideration.
12 There is no restriction on the number of entries Entrants’ can enter as many times as possible to increase their chances of winning.
13 Entrants of the Competition understand and agree that for purposes of the Competition the Promoters must collect and use personal information about the Entrants for verification of the Entrants’ details and processing of payment. The Entrants therefore consent to the Promoters and its authorised representatives to the processing of their Personal Information in accordance with the provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act 04 of 2013. All personal contact details and any other details that are received by the Promoters will not be sold or used other than for purposes of informing the Entrants that they have won the Competition and for processing payment.
14 The Promoters or their agents will not be held responsible for any disputes arising from the competition or prize awards. In the event of any dispute, the decision of the Promoter will be final. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for an alternative of equal value. No correspondence will be entered in this regard.
15 Prizes are not transferable and cannot be deferred or exchanged.
16 The Promoters reserve the right to cancel the Competition at their own discretion. In the event of such cancellation or alteration, all Entrants’ and the winners shall waive and abandon any rights they may have against the Promoters, its affiliates or associated companies. The Promoters may refuse to award any prize if any information or any irregularities or fraudulent activities are detected.
17 Neither the Promoters nor their associated agents and companies, nor any directors, officers nor employees of such, shall be liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise arising from any cause whatsoever, which may be suffered by the winner or Entrants. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and agree to be bound by them when entering the Competition.
18 If a winner fails to comply with the Terms and Conditions, he/she shall forfeit the prize on the grounds of ineligibility. Each Entrant represents and warrants that by entering in or participating in this Competition, he/she has full eligibility to do so. The Promoters reserve the right to request proof that Entrants have met any or all of these eligibility requirements.
